Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Scatter Cards (the "Service") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. It's written in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate — if anything's unclear, reach out (see Contact below).

1. Information We Collect

  • Account info, if you sign in: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account. We don't receive your Google password.
  • Saved flashcards: cards you add to your personal "Mine" collection are stored under your account so you can return to them later.
  • Session data: a session token is stored in a cookie so you stay signed in between visits. It identifies your session, not you personally, and expires automatically.
  • Theme preference: if you use the light/dark mode toggle, that choice is stored in your browser's local storage — never sent to us.

We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site.

2. How We Use Your Information

Account and saved-card data is used solely to operate the Service: authenticating you, showing your personal collection, and keeping it available across visits and devices. We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it.

3. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to maintain your signed-in session. It's required for the Service to know you're logged in — there's no way to opt out of it while remaining signed in, but simply not signing in avoids it entirely, since browsing the flashcard library doesn't require an account.

4. Sharing

We don't sell or rent your personal information. Your sign-in relies on Google as an identity provider; Google's own privacy policy governs the authentication step itself. We don't share your saved cards or account details with any other third party.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Saved cards remain in your "Mine" collection until you remove them yourself using the "Remove from Mine" control, or until you request full account deletion. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us (below) — we'll process it promptly.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including storing session tokens server-side so they can be individually revoked (e.g. on logout). No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
